Coming-soon:
Revisiting the ‘Christmas story’
Well, it's pretty chilly here in Sunny
FL :) ~ I've heard that it's chilly all around the country ~ :) Of course, the
holidays usually bring back many memories for many people. We all enjoy the
times of fellowship with family. And, we all get used to traditions, sometimes
one that we look back on later and wonder why we did those.
For a second, think back to a Christmas
that stood out the most to you - whether because of who
all was there at the gathering, the conversations you had, or something unique.
Try also to remember a time when the whole gathering spent a bit of time
focusing on the meaning of Christmas and the Reason for the Season - the time
when the Lamb of God put on human flesh and came down among us, with the clear
intention to become the Sacrifice for the sins of those who believe and follow
Him...
Now, snap back to today? How long ago
was that time? How closely does your heart value that today? How much have you
lost that focus?
Rev 3: ,
Jesus said this to the churches: "I
know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who
are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and
have found them liars; and you have persevered and have patience, and have
labored for My name's sake and have not become weary.
Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love."
*** Curious, does that describe you? Does that describe a family member you
love or a friend you care about? If it has, then the best and easiest solution, is to intentionally immerse ourselves in God's
Word daily, working book-by-book is a great way to study for many reasons,
including getting a panoramic view of the whole counsel of God's Words. If
that's not you or me that it describes, then what we need to do is continue
actively growing, remember to pray for that person(s), and actively look for
opportunities to share God's Word and truths that we are studying and learning
in - with them. Sound like a plan? :)
I'm sure, for those of us who are
followers of Christ, we can think of a time when Jesus wasn't just in our life
- He was all of our life, He was all we thought about the whole day! We were so
excited about Him!... For those of us who see we have
lost some of that, let's go back and remember how that felt, how we arranged
our schedules differently, and how delighted we were to be saved and to be a
part of God's family, and let's revisit that, and seek to do that again, asking
God to help us and even move us back there! :)
With all that said, I'd like to
approach the Christmas story as though we haven't seen it before, because
chances are, I may have learned some things that you haven't heard and/or we
have both forgotten ~ So, I hope you will join with me as I walk through the
Christmas story in little sections, and hopefully at the end of it, we will not
only have a warmth of remembering truths again, but we will also, hopefully,
tune our hearts back toward His :)
Till next time, let's revisit the
'Christmas story' ourselves, and I look forward to posting most short studies
on it and getting your feedback! ~ Let's remember to
keep joining the wise men in seeking Him! ~ your
bro/friend and a growing servant/life-slave of Jesus, SH
