verses to build your life on
Jesus
said: “…
whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise
man who built his house on the rock…” ~ Matthew 7:24

Do
not worry! Well, that was easy! Not! ~ study

"Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?'
or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after all these things
the Gentiles seek. For your Heavenly Father knows that you need all these
things. But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these
things shall be added to you." ~ Matthew 6:31-33

This passage is at least somewhat
self-explanatory to many, so I'll keep my thoughts brief. Worry is different
from concern - for you and I both know that God is concerned about each detail
that they go according to His will, He's just not worried or fretting over it,
and those who are His children need not fret either. (easier
said than done? :) ~ Yes, but we keep growing in it...)
Also, the word Gentiles there is not
the whole category of Gentiles, but is really best understood as unsaved
Gentiles, for Jesus was talking to the Jewish people and trying to help them
see the wrongness of thinking like the world, rather than relying on their
Heavenly Father for every detail, and growing to include Him in every detail -
really wanting to include and understand His thoughts on each point.
The real climax of this passage is in
verse 33: "Seek
first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness..." ~ there is
so much in this little statement, and the more I see of life, the more I see
that is available to us, as we seek Him and His Kingdom - First. Also,
something that may slip by us too often is the note, in this verse, to seek
first His Kingdom. You are probably wondering why I asked that. Well, I think
too often, we as humans aim much lower, and try to lower His standards,
forgetting we have the flawed standards, He has the righteous standards. So,
let's keep raising our sights, yes?
Take care for now, and let's try to intentionally
ponder this today, as we hurry off to a busy Monday and Tuesday. ~ your bro and a growing servant/life-slave of Jesus, SH
P.S. ~ a fitting verse to conclude on,
Jesus' conclusion ~ :) - "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will
worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."
Matthew 6:34 ~ Trusting, and asking God for wisdom of how to
grow more today, and how to obey and serve Him more today. ~ SH
