Is the world’s love genuine? If so, then why is it so cold?

Is it just me, or do many of the people I meet and talk with from day to day seem to only love us for what they can get from us. It's not a real love, and it seems to fade fairly quickly. So, why is it like that? "And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold." ~ Matthew 24:12 ** May we continue to grow and learn how not to follow their example - Romans 12:9
