Transhumanism:
Why this is an Abomination to the Lord
Some of you who read that title are
probably asking - 'what is transhumanism?'
Good question! Let us start by giving you some examples then we can
define it, and fill you in on the discussion and then talk about what God's
Word says about it.
Have you ever heard of the movies
'RoboCop', Terminator or Iron Man? All three of these movies are excellent
examples of what upper level scientists are talking about when they say
'transhumanism'. There are too many examples to mention. The world around us
has become blitzed by the media's push that ‘we can be more than just human' for some time. It was in Star Trek,
Star Wars, 'super-hero' movies along with various cartoons of today that refer
to, or show off, transhumanism. Today's video games, and rapidly growing
technology networks, are another way to help people become acquainted with
becoming part of the technology 'matrix', as some call it.
So with that intro, let us go next to the
definition of what the world is talking about when they say 'transhumanism'.
There is more than one definition of transhumanism that scientists and the
elite, work with, but I will give you two:
This
definition is from OxfordDictionaries.com:
“The belief or theory that the human race can evolve beyond its current physical and mental limitations, especially by means of science and technology.”
This definition is from Wikipedia:
"Transhumanism is an international,
intellectual and cultural movement supporting the use of science and technology
to improve human mental and physical characteristics and capacities. The
movement regards aspects of the human condition, such as disability, suffering,
disease, aging, and involuntary death as unnecessary and undesirable.
Transhumanists look to biotechnologies and other emerging technologies for
these purposes."
When scientists think of being transhuman,
what they are really saying is they intend to be “posthuman.” Right now there are items that scientists are making
called 'neurochips'. The neurochips, or microchips, can
be surgically implanted into human or animal brains. Scientists are creating
these neurochips right now to increase human intelligence. A neurochip will
turn the human brain into a super-computer. Nanotechnology is another component
of transhumanism.
Nanotechnology is the size of molecules
and in the human brain. Scientists building nanotechnology will also be
creating other types of machines at an atomic level where they will be able to
replicate a chemical permitted form of matter.
This type of nanotechnology will be used
in the medical industry in order to extent, or prolong. In fact, with this type
of nanotech, humans might make it where human being can live forever. Honestly,
I do not want to live forever because I know this is not my home. In addition, everyone who turns from sin to
Jesus Christ has an amazing eternity t loo look forward to. Both of us
(authors) know and follow Christ, so the home we look forward to is in Heaven
with our Lord Jesus. However, with the technology of transhumanism growing so
rapidly, once the genie is out of the bottle, the life we now know will change
for the rest of humankind. Human beings
as we are today, will be completely altered, or become extinct. The extinction
of human life is something only the elite of this world, more likely than not,
want to see happen rather quickly.
Professor Yoshihiro Francis Fukuyama, from
Stanford University, says transhumanism is the most dangerous science in the
history of humankind and could lead to the end of the world as we know it. The
advisory group founded in 1960, JASON, the highest think tank at the Pentagon,
is an independent group of scientists who consult, or advise, with the U.S.
Government on things like science and technology such as transhumanism.
In the book of Daniel 12:4, it says, “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” As Daniel was writing this down, it is highly unlikely he could have imagined seeing God’s Creation manipulated in such an ungodly way. On the other hand, Ray Kurzweil, inventor, entrepreneur, and visionary , is a transhumanist (and an atheist) and 'transhumanism' (or 'singularity') is what he envisions for the near future. Mr. Kurzweil sees humankind changing over the next few decades where humans and machines merge, or become one. When machines and humans become one, this is also known as, the singularity. In fact, with the singularity, machines can take over the human brain capacity. In Mr. Kurzweil’s book, “The Singularity is Near”, he talks about technology singularity being as close as the year 2045.
In Genesis 1:27, “God created man in his own image, in his image he created him, male and female he created them.” Mankind today, through the work of people like Mr. Kurzweil, see themselves as god and are quickly looking, “to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed”-Revelation 13:15. In the book of Ecclesiastes 1:9, it states, "That which has been is what will be, that which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun.” The Bible clearly tells the reader this type of change to humankind was predicted (and will repeated again). Fallen angels came to earth and created hybrids with human women. This type of manipulation is now changing where humankind and machines could become one.
As of right now, there is transhumanism
going on between humankind and the animal species. If this does not sound
creepy enough to you, the organization known as DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects
Agency) is working on changing the DNA of our U.S. Soldiers,
turning them into super soldiers. This term, super soldiers, has been around
for quite a while now and we, the citizens of the America and possibly the
world, are funding this research whether we know it or not.
These hybrids, human/animal species, have
regular citizens concerned and wondering if they will have the same rights
humankind has today with a conscience to determine between right and wrong,
good and evil and more. Genesis 3:5 says, “For God doth know that in the
day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods,
knowing good and evil.” The Brookings Institute, one of the biggest ‘think tanks’ in the world,
has been wondering the same thing about these human/animal hybrids having a
conscience. Genesis 6:12 says, “And God looked
upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his
way upon the earth."
The above verse speaks to what is
happening right now, either in front of us (those
who are becoming aware of the changes in humankind) or under the noses of
those who either have not noticed or refuse to see the truth that will forever
change humankind. For those who have ever read mythology stories in school, or
on their own, they would have learned that there were human/animal hybrids such
as a bull/human hybrid. These same human/animal hybrids are being created in
laboratories in England right now.
In Matthew 24:37, it states, “As it was in
days of Noah, so to shall the coming of the Son of Man be.” The issue of a human/animal hybrid was
so serious in 2008, that Representative Christopher “Chris” Smith for New
Jersey's 4th congressional district, introduced H.R. 5910 (110th):
Human-Animal Hybrid Prohibition Act of 2008 into Congress. As of right now, it
is a known felony to create human/animal hybrids in the states of Arizona,
Louisiana and Ohio. It is also a misdemeanor to sell and purchase a
human/animal hybrid. Corrupting the human race is happening again, just as it
did in the days of Noah.
Here is one concluding video that will
help us segue to the conclusion, and what Scripture has to say on the race to
transhumanism and the singularity. There's a new movie coming out soon called
'Lucy' and it's implied that drugs can alter the mind and give her (and us) all
kinds of super-powers and capabilities. (Another similar one came out in 2010
called 'Limitless').
First off, this film 'Lucy' is a mix of
possible facts and outright science-fiction. Our mind has some limits because
of the curse of sin and we live in a fallen world. Can we get to 100% use of
our brain? No we can use all our brain power here on this sin-filled planet.
Though some drugs may boost our ability to do some things, the drugs will
inevitably wear off and become less effective. So, that part is just lies. Many
of the things in this film are outright lies. Our mind cannot destroy people
with a blink or our mind cannot change our hair or eye color. The deceiver,
Satan, can give illusions of that, and demons can work with humans to do some
things in trade for someone's soul - but much of that thinking is
science-fiction lies.
So what does the Bible say about these
genetic 'experiments'? Well let's look a little more into *why* these scientists and the elite people of the world would want
this technology.
Since the fall of man in the Garden of
Eden, those who rebel against God and love their sin have been searching high
and low for some mystical potion, pill or magic formula that they hope will
reverse the curse of sin - without repentance and believing in the One true
God. They want to live for eternity - but not to enjoy God and fellowship with
Him, in harmony with Him and His wonderful character and ever-unfolding Kingdom
forever.
No, the elites and their scientists would
prefer to extend their life so they can enjoy passing pleasures of sin longer.
They are trying to evade death (and the eternal Lake of Fire) for as long as
they can. To put it another way - in today's society, it's the quest of modern
humans to become like God, just like that old deceiver Satan said to Eve.
Humans today want to be like God - in power and all knowing. This is the
thinking behind transhumanism. It is a battle of wills - created human beings
against his Creator.
There is one thing humankind forgets about
our days on this planet though. Just before God sent the worldwide flood in the
days of Noah, God set an immovable, yet invisible barrier that all men and
women could live no more than 120 years - with very few exceptions (Genesis
6:3). In Jesus' day, He explained that we can't change our physical height or
our hair color by worrying or thinking about it (Luke 12:25; Matthew 5:26).
We hope you see the scientific race to be like God - while holding onto
our sin - is frivolous and futile. God makes it very clear: "And
as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ
was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He
will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation."
(Hebrews 9:27-28) And as God says in Romans 6: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift
of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
We do not know the day of the Lord's
returning, but we need to get ready - because today could be our last. In a
blink of an eye – we will be in eternity in Heaven or the Lake of Fire - forever.
Where have you made reservations? If you are still breathing, God wants you in
Heaven with Him. Are you ready?
Let us make sure that we are growing in
hunger for God's Word by being humble and obedient to Him. Let us show boldness
in sharing the gospel of Jesus and the Word of God with everyone we can.
