A short review
of Kirk Cameron’s latest film: “Connect”

Greetings
brothers and sisters in Christ, and friends (Feb 28th, 2017)
Last
night, we got to see Kirk Cameron’s latest film called “Connect”. We didn’t see
it advertised much which was unusual, but we did get to see it on the first of
the two days it’s set to be in theaters, 02-27-17 and 03-01-17.
And
if you want to know the short analysis from this FEDBP team, it gets 5 black
stars and an F- grade as well as the low ranking of 10% to 25% on honesty to
the facts. In other words, Kirk Cameron rightly raises some concerns about
technology and children, but then mixes it with a lot of anti-Biblical
conclusions and reductions of Biblical teachings. My family has been involved
in youth and college ministries, as well as abuse ministries for years. That is
why we are speaking up about what Kirk was teaching and letting others teach in
this film – because it’s a little truth mixed with a lot of lies. We will
explain as we review what he taught.
First,
in brief, let us review Kirk’s history. Many of you are aware that we and other
Biblical-teaching ministries have been tracking with Kirk Cameron for years. We
(the FEDBP team and others) were among the many who cheered him on when he was
working with Ray Comfort. And then, we (the FEDBP team and others) joined the
many who were literally shocked when he walked away from Christ and the Bible
and completely changed worldviews, teaching against the Bible and turning it
into stories. We (the FEDBP team) quote Kirk and explain his downfall in our 4 previous
movie reviews of 4 of his films.

Most
of those films were done in cooperation with the ecumenical and one-world
religion college pretending to be a “Christian” college known as “Liberty
University” (or LU).
So,
if you understand Kirk’s track record, then you understand why he keeps getting
a failing grade from the Bible – Kirk doesn’t like the Bible and he contradicts
it all of the time, even changing it to be stories and legends and good “morals”
that we can learn from, instead of 100% true, honest and history that we should
learn from if we want to be saved and be in Heaven, while many will hear from
Jesus Himself: depart. “21 Not everyone who says to Me,
'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of My
Father in Heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord,
Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and
done many wonders in Your name?' 23 And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart
from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'”
(Matthew 7:21-23)

might find this short study helpful as well – www.incpu.org/be-careful-of-golden-calf.htm
Unless
Kirk Cameron actually repents, he will hear those dreaded words. We hope he
repents, or if he won’t, that those who think he’s a “Biblical speaker” will
scatter from him and go back to their Bibles, instead of letting him be their “uncle
Kirk” and psychologist leader. As we, here at FEDBP, explain pretty often, demonic
psychology is satan’s favorite false teaching because it is constantly working
to blur and reduce the seriousness of sin, and to even excuse it, while implying
that the Bible is either unreliable, contradicts itself, or that it doesn’t
apply to all things in life. All 3 of those are satan’s
lies – if you believe any of those, you need to study God’s Word until you can
pull those lies out of your mind and heart.
Okay,
so with that short intro and review, let’s look at Kirk Cameron’s latest film –
called “Connect”. In some ways, this
might be one of his worst false-teaching films yet. We explain more below.
Please remember, this film is a sermon from Kirk Cameron, though in the film he
pretends/acts like a parent who is “learning” to model for others to follow in
his footsteps, instead of Jesus’ footsteps.
So,
Kirk started with talking about how much he “loves” how he and his wife love to
buy things for their kiddos (not necessarily wrong in itself). And so, he
described how he and his wife bought smart phones for all of his children, so
they could use them for keeping up with calendars and school events and to be
able to stay in touch, etc. But, then he heard a story on the “news” where a
guy (Tim Woda) found out that his son (about 10 yrs old) was being contacted
(and solicited) by a child predator. So, Kirk visited Tim to hear his story
firsthand. Mr. Woda, when he asked more questions, found out that his son had
started a secret email address and a secret Facebook account and other secret
messaging and stuff. Tim was able to gather all of the information and track
this guy down and collect the information and give it to the police. They did
nothing – said they were getting this complaint all of the time and couldn’t do
anything about it (which is most often a partial lie). So, Tim took the
information to the local FBI office, who eventually decided to investigate it. After
a few years, this guy – a middle-school sports coach was caught and arrested
and put in jail, after 250,000 similar situations. The partial lie here is that
we have found far too many times, the reason the police and FBI “cannot help”
is because some of their officers and agents are involved in the trafficking
and porn industries – yes, that sounds shocking, but it’s true, and those
involved in masonic lodges and groups (such as the “Fraternal Order of Police”)
are most often the worst culprits. They cover this all the time because they
are a part of those rings. They won’t do anything or admit anything until the
public outcry becomes so large that they have to arrest one lone lower-level guy
instead of arresting and prosecuting all of those involved. But… back to Tim’s
story. Tim at some point started a 501c3 “ministry” (I don’t know what
quality), called “U Know Kids”. Considering that Mr. Woda never mentioned God
or the Bible, I/we cannot recommend him and think he is probably okay with the
one-world religious rules, according to the agreements that all 501c3s have to
sign.
Kirk
then led us to talk to Kathy Koch, a trained “psychology” with a doctorate from
the Rockefeller-agencies (PhD). What that essentially means, as we have come to
realize, is that they are required to excuse sin and call it “mistakes” and “disorders”
and to preach the message of “it’s not your fault” and “God understands our
failings and weaknesses” instead of preaching the gospel Jesus did of
repentance and forgiveness found only through honesty and a genuine covenant
made with Jesus Christ, because of His sacrificial death on the cross as our
ransom. But… don’t worry – psychologists are not honest about the Bible either.
Back to Kathy… Kathy leads an organization called “Celebrate
Kids” and this was her “gospel” teaching – trading God’s Word for men’s myths.
She said that because of social media, children learn and believe 5 lies (yes,
she implied all do this). Those five lies are:
1)
“Everything revolves around me”
2)
“I deserve to be happy all of the time”
3)
“I must have choice [to be happy]”
4)
“I am my own authority”
5)
“Information is all I need, so I don’t need teachers”
Oh
the lies are far too many to count or counter easily – it would take a whole
other study to take apart this tightly woven false gospel that psychology
weaves and compare it to the literal Words of God and God’s definitions. But
suffice it to say, they are reducing sin to “ignorance” or “lack of the right
information”, completely rejecting God’s Word about sin and the sin nature, and
our *need* to repent and be reconciled to God. It’s not accidents that separate
us from God – as they so often reduce willful sin to be. No, it is willful
sinning and willful rebellion against God that drives us far from Him – but they
aren’t honest at all, so they won’t admit that. That is just one of the many
false teachings of demonic psychology. There are so many verses that need to be
covered in this to properly take it apart and set things back where they
actually are… but we don’t have time or scope to cover that in this article. But,
here are a few verses that contradict many of the partial truths/partial lies
that she stated.
“8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that
while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) If
all humans do are “accidents” then why do our souls need to be reconciled to
God? Because willful rebellion separates us from God and
turns us to be His enemies fighting for our wants. Jesus explained it
well and very succinctly. “16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
17 For God did not send His Son into the
world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 He who believes in Him is not
condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not
believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the
world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For everyone practicing evil hates
the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
21 But he who does the truth comes to
the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”
(John 3:16-21) – Even our English translations, though not deeply translated,
are still clear enough for all to see that it’s willful rebellion (that
seemingly no one admits) that separates us from God. Romans 1 explains more: “16 For I am not ashamed of
the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who
believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it
the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith."
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from
heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the
truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is
manifest in them, for God has shown it
to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being
understood by the things that are made, even
His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because,
although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their
thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to
be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the
incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man--and birds and
four-footed animals and creeping things. 24 Therefore God also
gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their
bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for
the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is
blessed forever. Amen…” (Romans 1:16-32)
So,
with Kathy’s lying and deceptive version of the “5 lies children believe”, what
were here solutions? As typical with demonic psychology, they were really short
majorly reduced “moral lessons”. She called them 5 “truths”.
1)
God is the center of the universe (is that where you stop?!)
2)
We can have joy in all circumstances (… many subtle lies mixed with this
answer)
3)
Choice is a privilege, not guaranteed (mostly true)
4)
God is the ultimate authority (do you mean “bully/tyrant”?)
5)
See God for wisdom
Yeah,
I agree. Seek God for wisdom. And there’s an easy way to start that – pick up
the Book written by God and throw out almost 100% of all books written by man,
especially those written by men about God’s Word – they lie way more than they
tell the truth. Secondly, walk away from almost 100% of 501c3 corporations for
good. Thirdly, throw out your trash vendor (TV) for good – for life. Because
only when you shut off and stop all of satan’s voices that you know of, can you
then find God’s wisdom based on reality and honesty of right and wrong, light
and dark, truth and lie. Until then… you’re just following the crowd and trying
to combine want for sins (put as “psychology”) with a limited love for actual
truth.
Typical
of psychologists, they pretend that God is the ultimate “bully” whom you can’t
fight, but you don’t want to follow. That’s what all media preaches – “God is
unfair to bring consequences on sins” and “If God isn’t all-loving and willing
to excuse my sins, he’s a cruel tyrant”. Those are the words (and subtle words)
of modern culture right now, who are merely parroting satan’s latest “preachers”
like Oprah and disney and many masons pretending to be “pastors”. But what is
the truth? Let’s look at a few verses.
>
“9 "The heart is
deceitful above all things, And
desperately wicked; Who can know it? 10 I,
the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every
man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.” (Jeremiah
17:9-10)
>
“18 "Come now, and let us reason together," Says
the LORD, "Though your sins
are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like
crimson, They shall be as wool. 19 If you are willing and
obedient, You shall eat the good of the land; 20 But
if you refuse and rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword"; For the mouth
of the LORD has spoken.”
(Isaiah 1:18-20)
>
“16 Come and
hear, all you who fear God, And I will declare what He has done for my soul. 17 I
cried to Him with my mouth, And He was extolled with
my tongue. 18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will
not hear. 19 But
certainly God has heard me; He
has attended to the voice of my prayer. 20 Blessed
be God, Who has not turned away
my prayer, Nor His mercy from me!” (Psalm 66:16-20)
>
“5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and
declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If
we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do
not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in
the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the
blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say
that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If
we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make
Him a liar, and His word is not in us.” (1st John 1:5-10)
>
“6 Do not add to His words, Lest He
rebuke you, and you be found [proven] a liar.” (Psalm 30:6)
>
“4 Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but [though/even if] every man a
liar. As it is written: "That You may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged.””
(Romans 3:4)
>
“1 I charge you
therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and
the dead at His appearing and His Kingdom: 2 Preach
the word! Be ready in season and
out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but
according to their own desires, because
they have itching ears, they will heap up for
themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 5 But
you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an
evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” (2nd Timothy 4:1-5)
“17 Do not think that I came to
destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly, I say to
you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means
pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these
commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven
[literally: in Hell]; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the
Kingdom of Heaven. 20 For I say to
you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no
means enter the Kingdom of Heaven.” (Matthew 5:17-20)
Please
also note that this world loves to blur “joy” with “happiness” as though they
are almost the same thing… no, not at all. 2nd Timothy 3:4 describes
“happiness” very well – “4 traitors,
headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having
a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!”
(2nd Timothy 3:4-5)
And
Galatians 5 contrasts “happiness” with “pure holiness/joy”
“16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not
fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against
the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one
another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,
fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery,
hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions,
dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries,
and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who
practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But
the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there
is no law. 24 And those who
are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If
we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not
become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.” (Galatians
5:16-25)
And
Galatians 6 describes the very different outcomes of serving the sin-desires of
the flesh/sin-nature versus walking holy and serving God alone.
“7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man
sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who
sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit
will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow
weary while doing good, for in due season we shall
reap if we do not lose heart.” (Galatians 6:7-9)
Staying
with the Word of God is what Kirk Cameron and his friends refuse to do. Sad for
them, but please don’t follow their sin-filled and sin-excusing wayward ways.
Back
to Kirk’s film/sermon… he and his crew of friends then continued from there to
give all kinds of false teachings and false comfort to those who refuse to walk
in and grow in obedience to God’s Word. Examples: “It’s not their fault”.
“You
are the perfect parent for your children.” (partially
true – God-picked, yes. Perfect, no. Grow.)
One
of Tim’s friends was making up statistics about how far gone kiddos are and how
you can’t teach them past the age of 12, etc, etc… no one mentioning the fact
that prayers for consequences from a caring parent who is walking pure and holy
does as much as his/her teaching the child.
Kirk
and friends also pushed the lying movement of “cyber bullying”.
Kirk’s
friend Ken Graves, a “pastor” at Calvary Chapel in Lost Angeles was a pretty
low note for this film too. Why? Because he allegorizes
Scripture – in lots of ways. For instance, he asked “Why is satan threatened
by children?” – he’s not. You won’t find one Bible
verse on that – satan is trying to destroy anyone he
can, and he certainly is not threatened by a child with a young imagination and
a heart full of foolishness looking for trouble that would be “fun”. But that’s
typical of the pagan psychology in this film. He also twisted Matthew 18. Mr.
Graves then taught that just like Jesus is “the Door”, so Dad and Mom should be
too… true to a point, but not the way he taught it. We cannot be perfect or God
in the life of our children, but only their parent – meaning, the teaching and
correcting loving Dad and Mom of a child entrusted to our care to teach to hate
sin and flee it, and to hate satan’s fantasy and deceptions and flee that, and
to learn and grow in what God calls holy and right. Mr. Graves also said that
the crushing blow from children to the devil is put doubt in satan’s head?... what book is he reading? He doesn’t know his Bible.
Kirk
had some great false teachings to share too. Like Christ died so we could get
the blessings… um, no repentance or covenant relationship with God or agreement
to grow in holiness mentioned – not once.
Then
Kirk gave the icing on his bad cake – he doesn’t want children (with their
parents as shelters and prayer-watchers and teachers and accountability
members) to use the internet to cut through the lies of the religious clergy
system.
Then
Kirk did some very foolish boasting (hoping other Christians would follow) in
pretending that he, a little human, would hunt the
devil down like a dragon and kill him if he could.
Another
of Kirk’s friends was teaching parents that teaching doesn’t work after the age
of 12. What?! What he said even implied that somehow God’s consequences and
teaching in answer to a Dad or Mom’s prayers stop working at 12… no, he is just
another liar trying to move the boundary stones and convince parents to stop
training their children long after 18 (the word in Proverbs 22:6 goes all the
way up to age 40).
“6 Train/teach up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.”
(Proverbs 22:6)
If
that weren’t clear there, then God made it clear for all of us to correct each
other – with boldness, humility and grace and gentleness.
“2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all
longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they will
not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they
will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and
they will turn their ears away
from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.” (2nd
Timothy 4:2-4)
Kirk
is trying to get more parents to follow him back to fables and myths, and
reducing the Bible to good stories. He does not take it literally and doesn’t
want others to either. Please beware of him. It’s very sad how far he is
falling from the Truth of God’s Word.
So
what was Kirk’s solution? To sell you and anyone else gullible enough to follow
him lockstep the new “Circle” internet pauser that
demonic disney is working with. Yes, Kirk Cameron the
former Bible teacher is now working hand-in-hand with disney.
He’s fallen a long way down and he’s still falling – by his own choice.
In
conclusion, there was no gospel message here – no reminder of Jesus’ teachings.
Just positive demonic psychology to turn the hearts of the
simple back to their ways of rebellion against God. Please, set down
your favorite teachers, and pick up your Bibles. Please spend much quality time
in it – writing down notes and growing in that. It seems almost everyone right
now who gets to make a “Christian” film is mixing truth with lies. Please have
your guards up, not down, when listening to any teacher – even this team here.
The Lord be with you and bless you as we all continually grow in seeking and
serving Jesus the Christ, and preaching His message – not our message or the
world’s message.
